Bloat versus Weight

This is an important part of understanding you. Some people look overweight but are in fact bloated. Its a vicious syndrome. You starve yourself. You adopt a dietary fad. And you exercise to endurance. Yet your shape remains stubbornly round particularly in the belly. And that might lead to anxiety which in turn leads to poor sleep.

Its important to know you are bloated rather than overweight. And there are ways in which you can do that. The first way is to measure your BMI here. Its not the defacto answer but way well give you a good clue. Gases causing bloat dont add weight like fat does. So if your BMI is healthy but your shape shows distention, you may well be eating foods or drink that contribute or you may be suffering from a fast growing population problem called SIBO (small intestive bacterial overgrowth). You can read about SIBO and its management here.

The science behind bloating is worth understanding. Bacteria in the gut may be in the wrong place (SIBO) or may have a liking for certain foods. In either case the bacteria decides your gut is a great place for dinner. They digest the foods and produce gases int he process, preferring certain foods over others. One modern and affordable way to establish your gut /bloat reaction to to different food types is the use of the relatively new Marble technology. Well worth the investment if you are suspicious your bacteria are happily feeding, producing gases and making your belly swell. You can find out about that technology here.
